Month Two: Developmental Milestones

So instead of writing a letter to my baybee every month, I will Attention Whore myself and her and brag about her accomplishments. Because who doesn't love a mom who says "My baybee is FAR superior to YOUR baybee." I do however, promise to be honest about which milestones she has not met at this time.

Here's what a "popular parenting website" says about two month olds, along with my comments about where we are.

Most babies can do:
1. Vocalize: gurggle and coo- Yes. So adorable.
2. Follows objects across field of vision- Yes. Effective when hypnotizing her to sleep.
3. Notices hands- Not only have we found our hands, we have found that our thumb is an acceptable alternative to a pacifier. Much to mama and daddy's dismay.
4. Holds head up for short periods- Geesh, please. We've been doing this since birth. Literally.

Half of babies can do:
1. Smile, laugh- Yes. Love, love, LOVE this. Melts my heart every time.
2. Holds head and a 45 degree angle- Please see answer to "holds head up for short periods."
3. Makes smoother movements- We're not going to win any tai chi competitions any time soon.

A few babies can do:
1. Holds head steady- Eh, kinda-ish.
2. Can bear weight on legs- Yes, oddly enough daddy helped her with this.
3. Lifts head and shoulders when lying on tummy- While we might lose the tai chi competition, we can do one kick @$$ Full Cobra pose.

So there's a snapshot of where we are. Tune in next month when I can hopefully tell you she's learned to read, haha!
