And now here we are in August. Ms. A is now a healthy 8 months old. Let's see what she's up to!
Most babies can do:
- Say "mama" and "dada" to both parents: not only to both parents but also to inanimate objects.
- Passes objects from hand to hand: Check
Half of babies can do:
- Stand while holding onto objects: Yes
- Crawl: Yes
- Point at objects: I haven't seen her do this. Maybe I should start pointing to things...
- Searches for hidden objects: She looks around for daddy when he hides.
A few babies can do:
- Pulls self to standing, cruises*: She pulled herself to standing yesterday while at football practice but I haven't seen her do it on a hard surface. No cruising yet.
- Picks things up with pincer (thumb, pointer finger) grasp: Kinda? Not really?
- Indicates wants with gestures: Yes. She will lift her arms up and look at me if she wants me to pick her up. She will also crawl to the kitchen cabinet when she's hungry.
* Cruising: holding onto furniture while moving around, not looking around for a gay partner.
The child is brilliant!
